Toothpaste Acne Treatment

Did you know that a tube of toothpaste has more than one function? Not only does it help keep you teeth clean, in many cases, toothpaste is used as a home remedy for treating acne. Yes, that’s right. Toothpaste can be used to clear acne, but there are certain factors that determine how effective it will be. However, toothpaste is a common remedy and here are some factors that should be kept in mind while using a toothpaste acne treatment. Read on to find out more.

There are thousands of toothpaste brands available in the market and it is often difficult to choose the right one. Some toothpastes will suit you better than others and help treat acne better. Gel based toothpastes, for example, are usually less effective than plain toothpastes. It is advisable to avoid using toothpastes that contain teeth whitening chemicals, for they contain a high amount of hydrogen peroxide that may cause burning and irritation of skin. In order to select the right toothpaste, read the various reviews carefully or you may seek advice from friends who might have treated acne with toothpaste. This will make it easier for you to determine which toothpaste will suit you best for treating acne. toothpaste acne

People who have dry skin complain that toothpaste acne treatments leave their skin even drier. This is because they make the error of leaving the toothpaste on through the night. That’s not the correct thing to do. This makes their skin dry and itchy in the morning. People with dry skin, therefore, should wash the paste away half an hour after applying it.

Acne is generally caused due to lack of nutrition, bacterial infection, a weak immune system, accumulation of toxins and inflammation of hair follicles. Most toothpaste contains anti-bacterial, antiseptic and anti-inflammatory agents that can help in clearing acne. But acne caused by hormone fluctuation, pregnancy or malnutrition cannot be treated with toothpaste. It is best to consult with an expert and follow a proper treatment method.

Select toothpaste that is low on fluorides. If you find that the toothpaste acne treatment is showing some positive results in treating your acne, then the chances are high that the toothpaste doesn’t contain fluoride which, when applied on the skin can cause much irritation, sometimes leading to allergies. Wash your face with mild soaps, for example baby soaps that contain no harsh detergents and pat your face dry with a soft towel. Take a little amount of toothpaste and apply it on the pimples, papules and pustules. Wait for the toothpaste to dry.

Though this method is successful in most cases, some people may respond negatively because of sensitive skin and unsuitable toothpaste. If your skin is sensitive, talk to an expert before proceeding to apply toothpaste to treat acne. Even though it is safe, in some cases aggravation of the disorder might take place. So be careful. At first, try one pimple to see how your skin reacts. Do not apply the toothpaste on all the spots in the very beginning. This helps you to understand, if the toothpaste is suitable for your skin and minimizes the chances of aggravation.

Baking Soda Acne Treatment

Are you like me and have acne prone skin? Do you usually keep an eye out for the next product to clear your skin? Stop your search and try using this baking soda acne treatment instead. Now don’t think I’m crazy. It’s very cheap and it’s readily available almost anywhere. On top of that, baking soda for acne gets the job done! I’m no dermatologist but I know results when I see them. You don’t need anything special to make this work. All you need is baking soda and some water. Nothing fancy, water from the faucet works just fine. It’s been argued that you need Apple Cider Vinegar as a toner and I’ll go into detail later.

All you need to do mix this baking soda acne treatment with water into a paste. You don’t want it super thick, nor do you want it to runny. The reason behind this is the baking soda acts as a light (very light) exfoliator that clears away dead skin, unclogs pores, and deep cleans them. When you do make the paste, opt for more thick over runny as it will exfoliate better. You want the consistency to be so that the paste sticks to your face when you apply it, but it isn’t clumpy. Don’t stress over this to much as it will work pretty well no matter what. baking soda acne

Gently apply the baking soda acne treatment paste to your face. Personally I apply it using small circles as they help me maintain a very gentle touch throughout the process. It may sting the first few times you use this on your face. This goes away as your skin get’s used to it. If instead you find your face burning, make sure you’re didn’t use baking powder instead of baking soda. They are two entirely different products and baking powder will burn like heck! Anyways after letting it do it’s magic, you’ll want to rinse your face off pretty thoroughly.

Now I mentioned before about using Apple Cider Vinegar as a toner. I personally buy into this idea as the skin has to maintain a certain pH balance and baking soda is a strong base. So after you’ve cleansed all the baking soda off, you might want to take a 70% water/30% ACV toner and splash it on your face. You can just let that dry or you can rinse it off after a few minutes if you don’t like the smell.

Be careful as using this baking soda acne treatment has the tendency to dry your skin out. This is more so at the beginning at first until your skin gets used to it. While you’re skin is still adapting and even afterward, you’ll want to make sure you’re moisturizing. Also, to avoid excessive drying, only do this 3 times a week at a maximum. This provides a nice balance of keeping your face clear without drying it out to much.

While I love how great this makes me look and feel, I love the cost even more. The baking soda for acne option is less than a dollar if just using that and the apple cider vinegar can be bought for around $5. Give this a try today; you really have nothing to lose and everything to gain.

While the baking soda acne treatment method works great for acne prone skin, it along with other acne treatments, will never cure you. That’s because they only work skin deep when in fact the acne problem stems from inside your body.

Each and everyday thousands of acne sufferers are searching for those effective home remedies for acne, I’m guessing you’re one of them. You have probably bought ever over-the-counter acne product there is, and although that product promises you everything within a few weeks, it fails to come through on it’s promise. Stop right there, you’ll never have to buy another over-the-counter product ever again. Because home remedies are not only effective, but they’re cheap aswell just consisting of most household ingredients.
home remedies for acne
First of all these are the home remedies for acne that I have personally tried, and highly recommend (everyones skin is different so, remedies that worked for me, may not work for you);

#1 Orange and Lemon Juice. This worked the best for me. What you do is squeeze either an orange or a lemon to extract the juice. Then apply the juice to the acne areas, leave on for around 30 minutes then simply wash off gently with warm water.

#2 Fresh garlic also worked very well, although I didn’t carry on using this effective remedy as I dislike the smell! All you do is rub fresh garlic onto your acne 4 times a day. Repeat every day for two weeks, and if you see an improvement carry on using this effective home remedy.

Now I havn’t tried these home remedies below, but I’ve heard people getting great results with them;

#3 I read on a popular acne forum that cooking oatmeal, applying it to the acne infected areas and then washing off after 10 minutes is a really good home remedy. Now my first thought upon reading this was how stupid! But after seeing more and more reviews about this home remedy, I’m convinced that it is now an effective remedy!

#4 Potatos! What you do is slice a raw potato in half, then rub the flat edge of the potato on the acne areas. Apprently the vitamins in the potato helps get rid of redness and improve your complexion, while the alkaline helps break down the oil in the pores.

Safe Acne Medication During Pregnancy

The best time to research safe acne medication during pregnancy is before you’re pregnant or thinking about getting pregnant. Obviously, you can’t control the unexpected and planning isn’t always exact. But it helps to be prepared so you can avoid using harmful medications.

Some medications still linger in the body even after prescriptions have ended. This is important for expecting mothers to know since the greatest risk to a baby is during the first month or two. This is the stage when his or her organs are still forming.

Many women are uncertain what acne treatments are pregnancy safe. Make sure you discuss all medications with your doctor before using anything.

Safe Medication During Pregnancy for Acne

Acne medication during pregnancy considered safe for expecting mothers include erythromiycin, clindamycin, azelaic acid, and oral contraceptive pills.

Erythromycin and clindamycin can be used in both topical creams and oral prescriptives. The oral forms of these are antibiotics for severe acne. Since bacteria are able to build resistance to antibiotics, however, erythromycin and clindamycin, though safe, may not be very effective.

Azelaic Acid (Azelex, Finacea, Finevin) is a topical cream for moderate acne with antibacterial properties. There is little risk to the fetus, but there haven’t been any human studies to provide any useful information.

Despite general belief that oral contraceptive pills for acne will harm the baby if continued, there is no evidence showing women to be at a higher risk for defects.

Unsafe Medication During Pregnancy for Acne

Acne medication during pregnamcy to avoid include topical and oral retinoids, various antibiotics, and other prescription medicines.

Topical Retinoids like tretinoin and adapalene are derived from Vitamin A and should be avoided during pregnancy. Tretinoin is related to isotretinoin (accutane). There is risk of these ingredients being absorbed into the skin and bloodstream and causing birth defects.

Oral retinoinds like isotretinoin (accutane, roaccutane) are extremely dangerous and should be avoided like the plague during pregnancy. Isotretinoin is commonly used to treat cystic acne. It is banned during pregnancy because it causes malformations to the fetus. Besides a slew of fetal defects, this drug increases the chance of miscarriage and infant death.

acne medication during pregnancy

If you find out you are pregnant and on this drug, stop taking the drug immediately. If you’re trying to get pregnant, you should stop the drug a month before you start, as recommended by the Organization of Teratology Information Services (OTIS).

Oral Antibiotics

As a general rule of thumb, oral antibiotics are generally not safe medication during pregnancy, with the exception of oral erythromycin.

Both tetracycline (Sumycin, Achromycin V) and Doxycycline and Minocycline are oral antibiotics for acne that are frequently prescribed for acne. However, they should be avoided during pregnancy and breastfeeding because of the risk of interfering with bone growth in fetuses.

Other Prescription Medication

Sodium Sulfacetamide is a topical anti-infective medication used to treat acne and seborrheic skin conditions. If taken orally it can affect the fetus. Topically, it likely won’t harm the fetus, but its risk in pregnancy is unknown.

Acne In Early Pregnancy

Acne in early pregnancy is a very common symptom of the pregnant women. It is often seen that pregnancy brings in acne among the pregnant women or serve to make it even more worse. It is in fact a very common thing that the pregnant women are more likely to suffer from acne. Often we also notice that when women undergo hormonal fluctuations they develop a surge of pimples on their face. In case of pregnancy also they develop the same kind of symptoms.

During the stages of pregnancy higher levels of hormones known as ‘androgens’ serve to prompt the sebaceous glands in the skin. This in turn gets bigger and boosts production of an oily substance known as ‘sebum’. This extra sebum creates more problems by combining with the shed skin cells that lie all around the hair follicles. In due course of time this blocks the pores and creates an environment which multiplies the bacteria. All these ultimately lead to the inflammation of skin and thus results in the development of skin eruptions called acne.

It should be noted that if one is already suffering from the skin eruptions of acne the situations might tend to worsen during the stages of pregnancy. However there is no need to worry as in the present times advancement in the process of medication helps in getting relief from acne in early pregnancy.

There are a wide variety of creams available in the markets which are absolutely safe for the treatment of acne. The women who suffer from the normal symptoms of acne during the stages of pregnancy should not rely on any sort of treatments as these eruptions will resolve on its own within a considerable span of time.

However getting relief from the problem of acne altogether is not at all possible. One can however follow certain tips to make which might provide a bit of relief during pregnancy. It is very important to cleanse your skin with a mild soap or wash at least two times a day and also use a moisturizer which has no percentage of oil at all. You should also avoid scrubbing your face with a washcloth. This in turn makes the problem worse. You should only make use of your hands to gently cleanse your face. You should also pat your skin dry with a soft towel. You should never ever try to squeeze, pop or rub your pimples. This will not only make the problem worse but leave a deep mark on your skin.

If you are too fond of wearing make-up then also make sure that they are completely water based and are non-acnegenic. This will prevent the pores of your skin from clogging and also prevent subsequent breakouts. You should also consult your doctor when acne in early pregnancyyou are using certain gels or lotions to prevent the skin eruptions of acne. So in order to prevent acne and get a healthy skin, one should take proper care during the stages of pregnancy by going in for thorough cleansing of your skin.

The First Step to Curing Acne

So now that we have established the root cause of acne, how do we deal with it? The first step is to cleanse your body of the excess acid and toxins. There are a number of ways to do this and yes, you can use enemas and products you can buy at a pharmacy but if it’s not natural then it will probably do more harm than good. I find that the simplest way to cleanse the excess toxins from your body is to go on a 3-Day Raw Vegetable Fast. This, quite simply, involves eating nothing but fresh raw vegetables for a period of 3 days. It does not make a huge difference which vegetables you use but the basic rule is the greener a vegetable is the better it is for your pH level, a great first step for curing acne.

I personally use cucumbers as my largest source of vegetables. They taste great, are extremely alkalizing, and they are easy to carry with you wherever you go. In my regular diet I will eat 5-6 cucumbers a day for snacks. During a cleansing period, I will eat more than 10 on any given day. Some of you may not like cucumbers and that is fine. Celery and tomatoes are good alternatives, but I find them slightly more difficult to eat in large numbers.

curing acne
The key is to find a raw vegetable that you can eat on a large scale or to find a salad that is easy for you to make. Remember that you will need a lot of these types of foods from now on so make sure you find something that is easy to find and prepare. For those of you with particularly fast metabolisms, you may find it difficult at first to eat only raw vegetables. I strongly recommend using vitamin supplements and/or ‘green’ drinks to assist with your daily nutritional requirements, especially during the cleansing period.

A ‘green’ drink comes in a powdered form for you to mix with water. A single teaspoon contains almost all of the vitamins and minerals your body requires on a daily basis, very important when curing acne. During the cleansing period, I recommend using 4-5 teaspoons (i.e. drink 4-5 glasses) per day. You can purchase these drinks from most chemists and all vitamin and health food stores or you can purchase them online. There are a variety of different green drinks available on the market but I find that the majority are not very pleasing for the taste buds. There is only one that I have found so far that actually tastes good – Vital Greens (available at http://www.vitalgreens.com/ – 300g/10.6oz should last about 2 months). However, you may find others that you prefer or are easier to purchase. Other drinks that may help are liquid chlorophyll, which again can be bought from your local health store and some pharmacies, and lemon water. Liquid chlorophyll can be bought in various flavours and is a well-known pH booster. It is found in all green vegetables and is one of the most active ingredients in alkalizing the body.

Lemon water is simply freshly squeezed lemon juice mixed with water. The bonus for this option is that lemons are extremely easy to find and much less expensive than the previous mentioned drinks. Lemons (and limes) are also known to have a strong alkalizing effect on the body. You may be wondering how that works, as lemons are a citrus food containing citric acid. Unfortunately, I still do not entirely understand it myself; but I can verify that it does work. The only disadvantage of using lemon water as opposed to green drinks is the lack of all the vitamins and minerals that green drinks have, that your body requires.
